This year we are required to have students submit 4 projects. The designated Project for First Quarter follows the format of “Understanding by Design” or UbD.
On Monday 10/9, we will begin to learn about Volcanoes, Faults, and Earthquakes according to the NC Essential Standards. Students will receive a packet with the activities and exercises to guide them through the required content.
On Wednesday October 11 and Thursday October 12, I will introduce the UbD Project for this Quarter. I will provide at least 3 websites, for each location, that will help students begin their research. These links are not the only ones that should be used–just a place to begin to learn about your assigned location. We will spend 10/23 and 10/24 in the Media Center to wrap-up any Project work that needs to be done. By October 25th (A-Day) and October 26th (B-Day) the project should be turned in to me.
Here are the links to WORD documents that outline the UbD Project requirements and the 100-point Grading Rubric.
Here are the Geologically Active Locations that will be used for the Project. We will sign up for these in class beginning Wednesday Oct 11. No more than 2 students may sign-up for any one location.
The websites that students can use to begin their research will be posted HERE.
